In spring 2005 I programmed Heiner Goebbels' Surrogate Cities alongside my new work for Odense Symphony Orchestra, I greet you a thousand times. There had been few performances of Goebbel's work in Denmark at that time, and so in order to introduce his work - which had fascinated me ever since I heard him lecture at the Goethe Institut in Tokyo in 1997 - to Danish listeners, I wrote this article for the journal DMT (Dansk Musik Tidsskrift).
