In this encyclopaedic collection, edited by Morten Søndergaard, 100 contributors associate freely on some familiar topoi such as lakes, trees, hills, harbours and public squares.

The edition also serves as the catalogue for five exhibitions at Danish art museums that each turn on one of the five topographic elements. Factual knowledge blends with artistic insight. The contributors include writers, visual artists, scientists, architects and philosophers.
